Turn the page quickly.
Printed at the bottom right of a page, as V.S. or v.s., when the music continues at once on the next page, warning the player to turn quickly. It applies to that page turn only.
Abbreviations: V.S., v.s.
It flags a page turn that falls in the music instead of in a rest — a layout problem better solved than announced. Lay out parts so turns come during rests; when that is impossible, print V.S. and leave the player a moment, such as a rest in one hand. In orchestral parts a turn during playing is a defect to fix.
Volti subito is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
