Accelerated.
Printed above the staff where the tempo quickens. In German scores a gradual change is often drawn out with dashes after the word; a new tempo word or a tempo ends it.
Accelerated: it can mean a gradual accelerando or an immediate step to a faster tempo, and context decides — so say which if it matters, with dashes or nach und nach for gradual, or a new tempo word for sudden. Beschleunigend (‘accelerating’) is the clearer word for a gradual change.
Wolf, Eichendorff-Lieder, “Erwartung”, voice, m. 59: “beschleunigt”, two bars before a cresc., in a song headed “Einfach und herzlich”.
Beschleunigt is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
