Nothing here is new; everything here is unlabeled. The ascent to the dominant is the Rule of the Octave’s first half, figure for figure. The submediant falling a fifth to the supertonic invites the prepared seventh, and the bass that stands on the dominant through two half notes has scheduled a suspension. An unfigured bass is a memory test disguised as a composition.
The three upper voices of the model realization fit under one hand. Work in three passes: the rising half-scale takes the Rule’s own figures; the falling fifth from the submediant asks for the supertonic’s seventh; and the doubled dominant at the close is the 4–3 announcing itself. Carry it into G major, F major.
