A rest occurring within a tupleted group is scaled by the same ratio as its neighboring notes (its sounding duration is written duration × denom/num, identical to tuplet-duration-arithmetic's formula applied to notes) and remains inside the bracket — it is never pulled out of the tuplet or left unscaled. If an entire tuplet group is silent, it is written as one rest occupying the space, still bracketed with its numeral, not as multiple smaller unscaled rests.
A tupletDef's `indices` array includes a rest tickable (`pitch: 'rest'`) among its notes; if the audit engine's (or a future renderer change's) sounding-duration computation only sums non-rest tickables, the tuplet's soundingTotal check (tuplet-duration-arithmetic) would silently under-count and pass a malformed group where the rest's scaled duration doesn't actually close the ratio.

This rule can be decided from pitches, durations and voices — no layout required. A validator can check it before anything is drawn.
