Rule
Gradus GE-327 · cite this code — it is permanent. Rule id lyric-collision-with-staff-below-or-dynamics
The lyric row's vertical position must sit far enough below its staff that it never overlaps notes/ledger lines of a staff below it, nor collide with dynamic markings, which conventionally sit directly below the staff in the same territory lyrics would occupy.
Gould (lyric placement) and (dynamics placement) — Gould notes the two must be coordinated when both appear below one staff.
This rule is about where marks land on the page, so it can only be judged after engraving. Collision and spacing faults live here.
Gradus GE-327 — Lyric baseline must clear the staff below it and any dynamic markings in the same vertical channel. Gradus Engraving Rulebook v1.0. https://gradusmusic.com/engraving/rule/lyric-collision-with-staff-below-or-dynamics
