A little accented.
Printed above or beside the line it concerns, often with a hand indication (m.d., m.g.) in piano music, and sometimes with light accents on the notes. It applies to that line for the passage, until another articulation word takes over.
Also spelled: un peu accentue
It asks for gentle emphasis: the notes of a line given a little more weight than the surrounding texture, without the hard attack of an accent mark. Use it to bring out an inner voice or a melody in one hand at a soft dynamic, as Boulanger does after a ppp. It is milder than en dehors, which asks for the line to stand right out.
Boulanger, Clairières dans le ciel, “Nous nous aimerons tant”, piano, m. 30: “un peu accentué”, with “m.d.” in the same bar, following a ppp at m. 28.
Un peu accentué is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
