Very decided.
Printed above the staff or over a part where a firm, resolute character begins. It lasts until another character marking appears.
Also spelled: tres decide
It asks for determination: firm attack, clear rhythm and confident projection, with no hesitation at the starts of phrases. It is the French counterpart of deciso, intensified by très. Use it to mark a change of character, often at an entry or a new theme; a dynamic helps the player judge how much weight the decision carries.
Boulanger, D’un matin de printemps, piccolo, m. 46: “Très décidé”, printed in square brackets, with mf in the following bar.
Très décidé is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
