Minuet.
Printed as a movement title or heading (Menuett; Menuett with a tempo word), usually followed by a Trio and a return of the minuet (Menuett da capo). It names the form and implies a moderate triple metre, not a precise tempo.
The minuet is the Classical dance movement in 3/4, a rounded binary minuet with a contrasting trio and a return. Haydn and Mozart made it the usual third movement of a symphony; Beethoven largely replaced it with the faster scherzo. Writing one today evokes poise and courtly balance; give a tempo word, since minuet tempos range from stately to brisk.
Menuett is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
