In the same tempo.
Printed above the staff at a section change — a Trio, a new metre — to say the tempo carries over; it is equivalent to l’istesso tempo and holds until another tempo word.
Use it where performers would otherwise change tempo by convention — a trio traditionally relaxes — or where a new metre might suggest a new speed. If the beat unit changes, add an equation (quarter = dotted quarter) to show what stays the same. Bruckner heads the Trio of his Fifth Symphony with it.
Bruckner, Symphony No. 5, third movement, Trio, m. 1: “Im gleichen Tempo” heads the Trio.
Im gleichen Tempo is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
