With delight.
Printed above the staff at the phrase it colours, often together with a change of tempo; it lasts for that phrase or passage.
With delight: a savouring, sensuous delivery — gentle tone, unhurried rubato. Scriabin’s late vocabulary includes many words of this kind (con voglia, accarezzevole, con luminosità); use them only where the music provides the matching character, and add a tempo word if the pace changes. They colour the delivery rather than prescribe it, so leave room for the player’s own response.
Scriabin, Piano Sonata No. 5, Op. 53, m. 263: “con delizia” with “Meno vivo”, two bars after “rit.” and “smorz.”
Con delizia is one of 1755 terms in the Gradus musical dictionary: the words, abbreviations and instrument names that appear in printed scores, plus the vocabulary composers use to talk about them.
