An articulation mark on a note under a slur must not poke through the slur's curve

When a note carries both an articulation (typically staccato, in a portato passage) and sits under a slur, the articulation mark stays BETWEEN the notehead and the slur's arc — it must not project past the slur line to the outside, which would read as floating disconnected from the phrase the slur marks.

A staccato dot on a note under a slur renders far enough from the notehead that it sits ON or BEYOND the slur's curve at that x, instead of clearly inside it.
