Gradus GE-273 · cite this code — it is permanent. Rule id voice-seventh-resolution
The seventh of any seventh chord resolves DOWN by step, IN THE SAME VOICE, to a chord tone of the following harmony — whether approached by step or held over as a suspension (4th-species-style 7-6 figure), in which case the direction is preserved even though the TIMING may be delayed by tie/syncopation.
A V7 chord's chordal seventh leaping to a chord tone of the next harmony instead of resolving down by step, or resolving down by more than a step.

This rule needs the notated content and the rendered result together — the score says what should happen, the page says whether it did.
