A tie should not coexist with an articulation that implies re-attack or detachment

Staccato, staccatissimo, and accent all imply a distinct, separated or re-struck attack; tying a note while marking it staccato is usually a contradiction, unless deliberately notating a portato-like effect (which Gradus's schema has no dedicated marking for).

Gould does not explicitly forbid this combination, but standard usage (Read, Ross ch.9) treats a staccato tie as a rare, special-purpose notation, not the default — most instances are authoring mistakes, not deliberate portato notation.

This rule can be decided from pitches, durations and voices — no layout required. A validator can check it before anything is drawn.
