Ornament glyphs must clear beams and slurs, not collide with them

A trill/turn/mordent sign sits above the staff clear of any beam passing below it; when a slur also arcs over the same passage, the ornament is placed OUTSIDE (above) the slur's arc, never crossed by it, so the two marks read as visually distinct layers.

A trilled note inside a beamed sixteenth-note group, also under a phrase slur, renders with the `tr` glyph positioned at a fixed vertical offset from the notehead that happens to land on or below the beam or the slur's arc at that x-position, producing a visual collision.

Gould, Behind Bars, ch. Ornaments and ch. Beaming — ornaments are consistently shown clear of beam groups and outside slur arcs in every worked example; Ross, The Art of Music Engraving, gives the same layering rule (slur innermost, ornament outermost, both above a beamed group).

This rule is about where marks land on the page, so it can only be judged after engraving. Collision and spacing faults live here.
